Redevelopment Support VISTA
NPHS has a great AmeriCorps VISTA opportunity. The Redevelopment Support VISTA will work with the Design and Construction department to focus to identify local, state, national and federal funding sources that expand our current housing program services. This will increase sustainability and increase our impact of administering current Owner Occupied Rehab Program, Acquisition Rehab and Resale Program, Infill Housing developments and launch a new Homeless Housing Initiative which includes the new social enterprise Sojourner Solar program.
The Redevelopment Support VISTA Associate will have the following objectives:
Objective 1: : Identify local, state, national and federal funding sources to significantly increase the impact of NPHS housing programs that serve very low to moderate income households and increase the housing needs of homeless individuals with permanent supportive vouchers. Research and identify solar industry purchase and financing options
Research and identify local, state, national and federal funding affordable housing sources in order to increase funding opportunity for existing affordable housing programs.
Meet with the Design & Construction staff team to better assess the local partnerships with municipalities and/or county entities in order to assess improvement in service delivery to these partnerships.
Provide staff support in applying for additional funds and identifying new homeless housing partnerships with Homeless Housing local nonprofits, networks and/or County committees.
Create internal document to track progress and findings and timelines to apply for identified funding sources to share with the Design & Development department.
Objective 2: Assess resources for the growth and development of the NPHS’ Factory-Built Housing Program coupled with Community Land Trust Models that support factory built, site built or rental housing opportunities.
Identify new sources of funding from financial institutions, foundations, corporations, and government agencies to develop infill projects.
Draft and submit Redevelopment grant proposals that support new infill developments with factory built homes.
Create proposals and presentations highlighting NPHS’ affordable housing programs that are submitted to local municipalities for new developments.
Develop recommendations on Community Land Trust and Land Bank business models utilizing the infill housing development and/or new construction.
Objective 3: identify and develop strategies for outreach and engagement of low-to-moderate income residents in need of NPHS’ redevelopment programs.
Highlight NPHS’ Sojourner Solar program and other existing Housing Programs through traditional and social media outlets.
Research what other community agencies are doing to effectively market their housing programs. Participate in community resource events and secure participation for events. Complete required applications.
Identify new partnerships to cross promote programs and services.
Organize home repair volunteer events by recruiting and managing volunteers.
This position requires a commitment to serve as a full-time employee for a 1 year period beginning Monday, August 26th, 2019. Compensation is paid directly to the VISTA in the form of a modest bi-weekly living allowance from AmeriCorps VISTA. At the end of the term of service, an education award or cash stipend may be provided. Training and Qualifications
U.S. Citizen at least 18 years of age
Responsible, self-motivated, and able to handle multiple on-going projects
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Relevant non-profit or community development experience
Ability to exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment and follow-through
Maintains regular and timely attendance
Thrives in a fast-paced work environment
