A Message from our President and CEO
An impactful twenty-five years have passed since NPHS was established as a result of a partnership between residents, the City of Montclair and NeighborWorks America. As we reflect on our twenty-fifth year of service, we will challenge and stretch ourselves more than ever to innovate further, have greater impact on the quality of life in our neighborhoods, and build economic security for families. We will continue to “think outside the house” and take an entrepreneurial and holistic approach to our work. This means implementing market-driven strategies that build and preserve economically-resilient neighborhoods, engineering innovative and interconnected programs that actually enable families to build wealth, and finding unique and collaborative cross-sector approaches to direct more social impact investments to our region. It is within this framework of entrepreneurialism and social enterprise innovation that NPHS strives to enrich the lives of the families and neighborhoods we serve.
Empowering families and neighborhoods to capture opportunities that lead to their economic security and prosperity is at the heart of what we do – it is the foundation of NPHS’ mission. It’s no longer just about creating opportunities, it is about enabling people to clutch opportunities that will transform their lives and communities forever. This is what NPHS is all about. We transform people’s lives and make our communities a better place to live and work. We house families, reduce blight, promote inclusion, fight displacement, create jobs, build and preserve equity, direct impact investments, and tackle issues that no one else will. These responsibilities may overwhelm us at times. But this is why we march in faith and hope, build on the resiliency of people, understand the human condition and work with our partners to reconfigure old strategies and deploy new ones to surmount what sometimes appears insurmountable.
Neighborhoods have always mattered. They house our schools, playgrounds, community gardens, social gatherings, institutions of faith, small business, and our many cultures. Neighborhoods are where we root ourselves, build our homes, and grow our families. And here in “inland suburbia,” our neighborhoods have so much untapped potential that they represent a true social impact investment opportunity for financial institutions. It is for these reasons and so many more, that we continue to rally our partners and work together to fight the good fight so we can advance the well-being of people, vitality of neighborhoods, creation of jobs, and sustainability of the environment.
Thank you for celebrating our milestone and accomplishments with us. On behalf of the Board of Directors and the thousands of families we served, thank you for working alongside us and sharing in our collective journey.
May we continue to take our neighborhoods to new heights.
