NEIGHBORHOOD PARTNERSHIP HOUSING SERVICES RECEIVES $100,000 PRIORITY MARKETS GRANT FROM WELLS FARGO TO SUPPORT GREEN OPPORTUNITY HOMEOWNERSHIP PROGRAM
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA – Neighborhood Partnership Housing Services, Inc. (NPHS) is the proud recipient of a $100,000 Priority Markets grant funded by Wells Fargo. The grant will help support the Green Opportunity Homeownership Program that consists of an Opportunity Down Payment Assistance (DPA) Loan, and a Green Home grant program serving low-to-moderate income homebuyers. Funding will also support pre and post purchase Homebuyer Education training and counseling, and will include an outreach focus to serve active military and veterans.
“Wells Fargo is proud to support NPHS and their Green Opportunity Homeownership program with our Priority Markets grant program which supports projects, programs, and initiatives that take a holistic approach to addressing community revitalization, with an emphasis on affordable housing,” said Jack Olree, Vice President at Wells Fargo Community Development.
As a NeighborWorks Green Organization, NPHS will also allocate a special fund as part of the grant to provide Green Home upgrade grants to 15 new homebuyers within targeted distressed communities. Examples of Green Home upgrades can include tank-less water heaters, energy efficient lighting, or drought tolerant irrigation.
“NPHS has been a strong partner of Wells Fargo over the past years, and this recent Priority Markets grant will allow us to continue revitalizing neighborhoods and moving forward with our green initiatives,” said Clemente A. Mojica, President and CEO of NPHS. “The overall objective of the Green Opportunity Homeownership Program is to prevent blight in distressed communities and to promote sustainable homeownership opportunities particularly to active military and veterans.”
The Green Opportunity Homeownership Program provides a holistic neighborhood revitalization strategy targeting five distressed communities in the Inland Valley (San Bernardino, Riverside, and Eastern Los Angeles Counties). The project utilizes 3 core strategies for stabilizing communities: Neighborhood Stabilization, Homeownership Creation and Preservation, and Housing Rehabilitation Programs.
NPHS has provided community and economic development services to the residents of the Inland Valley since 1991. NPHS has grown from a small grassroots organization into a multifaceted organization serving the three Southern California counties of San Bernardino, Riverside and Los Angeles. NPHS is a NeighborWorks America Chartered member; a HUD approved counseling agency; a Federal and State Certified CDFI; and a State Certified Community Housing Development Organization.
