As a HUD-approved housing counseling agency, NPHS provides homebuyer education classes and counseling to residents seeking to purchase homes. An 8-hour approved housing education certificate is provided to first-time homebuyers to qualify for certain mortgage lending programs. NPHS’ certified Homebuyer Development Specialists also provide counseling to develop personalized Homeownership Action Plans and to determine the homebuyer-readiness status of each client.

You can now complete a Homebuyer Education course online. You are able to complete the course at your own pace and the cost of the online course is $100. By clicking the link below, you will be redirected to the online Homebuyer Education website. Once you successfully complete the course, you must contact an NPHS counselor to obtain your Homebuyer Education Certificate. Each person requesting a certificate, must individually register and pay for the online course.
PLEASE NOTE: Before taking the online course, please verify that your lender and the City in which you are applying for down payment assistance will accept the online certification and does not require an in person consultation.
Highly trained and professional Homebuyer Development Specialists are available to provide both pre and post purchase counseling at no cost to the homebuyer. Individual counseling is available on loan programs, credit, budgeting, and other homeownership-related topics. In addition, workshops for potential homebuyers and current homeowners are conducted on a regular basis. All counseling and workshops are provided in both English and Spanish. There is a cost of $25 per person for credit checks (if applicable).
