2018 Americorps VISTA Summer Associate

NPHS has a great Americorps VISTA Summer Internship opportunity around environmental sustainability. The VISTA Associate will focus on working on the Sojourner Solar purchasing and financing program. The key objective of the assignment is to work with NPHS team members to further develop the Sojourner Solar business model, and identify marketing strategies that will assist families participate in the solar economy, and create sustainable revenue for NPHS.

The Americorps Summer VISTA Associate will have the following objectives:

Objective 1: Develop a business plan for Sojourner Solar

  • Identify and Describe the target population to be served
  • Conduct a competitor market analysis of other solar sales and financing companies in the region
  • Develop a business model for Sojourner Solar
  • Develop a business proforma with target sales goals including a budget forecast

Objective 2: Develop a marketing plan for Sojourner Solar

  • Research marketing strategies used by other solar companies
  • Review current digital and print marketing materials and tools (ie, website, social media, brochures, etc)
  • Identify partnership opportunities with other nonprofits, local municipalities, etc.
  • Identify the value proposition offered to targeted clients
  • Develop strategies for a marketing and outreach plan based on research findings
  • Develop marketing campaign budget

Objective 3: Implement marketing plan

  • Identify strategies to integrate with other NPHS departments and programs
  • Develop tracking system for leads and sales conversion
  • Work with communications team to roll out marketing plan

Requirements:

This position requires a commitment to serve as a full-time employee for am eight (8) week period beginning Monday, June 11, 2018. Compensation is paid directly to VISTA Summer Associates in the form of a modest bi-weeklyl living allowance from AmeriCorp VISTA. At the end of the term of service, an education award or cash stipend may be provided. Training and Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen at least 18 years of age
  • Responsible, self-motivated, and able to handle multiple on-going projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Relevant non-profit or community development experience
  • Computer skills required (MS Office products proficiency helpful)
  • Other language skills a plus
  • Ability to exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment and follow-through
  • Maintains regular and timely attendance
  • Thrives in a fast-paced work environment
